The current stamp duty thresholds in the UK as of April 2025 are as follows:
  • First-time buyers: No stamp duty on the first £300,000, 2% on the portion between £300,001 and £500,000, and 5% on the portion over £500,000. If the price is over £500,000, you cannot claim the relief.
  • Standard residential property: No stamp duty on the first £125,000, 2% on the portion between £125,001 and £250,000, 5% on the portion between £250,001 and £925,000, 10% on the portion between £925,001 and £1.5million and 12% on the portion over this amount .
  • Additional property (buy-to-let and second homes): 5% on the purchase price.
  • Non-resident purchasers: An additional 2% surcharge on top if all rates shown above.
